A short drive from the state capital, Schenectady remains best known as General Electric's birthplace.
Venture out of the city with trips to Saratoga Race Course (in Saratoga Springs), National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum (in Cooperstown) and Howe Caverns (in Howes Cave). There's still lots to do: admire the masterpieces at Norman Rockwell Museum, get a new perspective on nature at New York State Museum, and take in nature's colorful creations at Central Park Rose Garden.

To see ratings, photos, reviews, and tourist information, go to the Schenectady online day trip planner.

In May in Schenectady, expect temperatures between 68°F during the day and 56°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
